Why chromecast making noise with nexus player?

Hi everyone

I have a old Nexus Player that I use exclusively for listening to Google Play Music through chromecast which is hooked up to my receiver. Lately whenever I connect with my phone there is a loud pop or crackle sounds coming out from. Since this is hooked up to my home stereo, it is rather loud and it's rather inconvenient to stand by my stereo to turn it down every time I connect. what should i do?

Any Help would appreciated. Thanks!
