Dear President Muhammadu Buhari,

I was your diehard supporter. I supported you since you were military Head of State and was even detained by the SSS for a few hours in 1991 when I criticized the IBB administration for overthrowing you. In fact, to my knowledge, I was the first person to start a Facebook campaign for the realization of your presidential ambition. Professionally, I put my integrity on the line for you when I threw objectivity to the wind during the President Jonathan administration thinking I was only being patriotic.

When you became president in 2015, many of us stuck with you, overlooking your inadequacies, hoping and believing you only needed time. Three years down your presidency, the doubts I had suppressed took a toll on me and your failings became glaring. To say I became disappointed is an understatement.

My greatest disappointment has been, in my perception, your lack of empathy and gratitude. You proved me right by your government's statement on the Zamfara killings.

The poor people of Zamfara, whom you promised security, massively voted for you in 2015, but over a thousand people were killed in Zamfara since you became president. In the last two weeks alone, over 100 people lost their lives. It took a violent protest by Zamfarans to get your attention.

And what did you do?

You sent a delegation headed by the minister of interior to warn the bandits to stop the killings else there may be food shortage!

Now, I am more than reassured that my withdrawal of support for you is very much in order!

It is my desire you do not return as president in 2019.
