If you put it in the context of Yes or No, I will say NO because Africa is continent consist of 53 counties not just a country.

Depends on the angle is being looked at. Africa is among richest in the World in area of Population of the world, Natural resources, cultural heritage among others.

It is a very sensitive question you have brought up Webmaster. I am doing a research relating to such issues, and the answer is NO. Africa is not the poorest, but the richest continent in the world. It's only that her resources are not being used optimally.

The general feeling is that Africa needs good leaders with a VISION for their countries and peoples. The general perception is that African leaders are well educated but they lack vision. Therefore as Mature has noted, it is the "poor management system across the various states of the continent" which makes Africa the poorest continent in the world, despite the vast amount of resource under her soil and the millions of young people basking in her sunlight.

Some of African countries are really poor and facing huge problem of hunger and lots of social issues but some countries are rich too. Over all we can say tat Africa is facing real economic problem.

Snowgirl, Africa is rich in natural resources no body can dispute it, the really challenge Africa has been facing is management and lack of selfless leaders.
