Chief Magistrate Court 1, sitting in Makurdi, Benue State, has remanded in prison the newly inaugurated sole administrator of Buruku Local Government, David Yiman.

Others on remand with the council boss are Kosuvenyi Kungwa and Emmanuel Nyajo. They are being remanded for alleged murder.Yiman was among the 23 sole administrators inaugurated on October 11, 2016 by Governor Samuel Ortom.

According to the First Information Report obtained from the court, the suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of a 50-year-old lecturer of Political Science, University of Mkar, Mr. Aondosoo Wilfred Tondo, in August.

“During Police investigation, one Kosuvenyi Kungwa, Emmanuel Nyajo and Honourable David Yiman, all males, were arrested for conspiring with many others now at large to commit the crime.”

At the mention of the case on Monday, no plea was taken for want of jurisdiction. However, the Police Prosecuting Officer, Hyacenth Mbakwor, told the court that investigation was still in progress and asked for another date.

Counsel to the accused, Mr E.C. Tereve, did not oppose the application adjournment, saying, ‘we will apply for the bail of our client formally.’

While ruling, chief magistrate, Isaac Ajim, adjourned the case to January 23, 2017 for further hearing and ordered that the accused be remanded in Federal Minimum Prisons, Makurdi.
