Residents of Shomolu area of the Lagos metropolis have been gripped by panic, following the return to the area of Ibrahim Balogun, a notorious cultist, and self-confessed murderer.   Balogun had been out of circulation, having been held in custody at the Panti Police Station for offenses ranging from murder to disruption of public peace. Ibrahim, alias Small Jepron, threw a party to celebrate his return a few days after his release on 10 October.

sidents of Shomolu area of the Lagos metropolis have been gripped by panic, following the return to the area of Ibrahim Balogun, a notorious cultist, and self-confessed murderer.   Balogun had been out of circulation, having been held in custody at the Panti Police Station for offenses ranging from murder to disruption of public peace.

Ibrahim, alias Small Jepron, threw a party to celebrate his return a few days after his release on 10 October.

A source told SaharaReporters that Small Jepron was granted bail by Ogba Elefo Magistrate’s Court in Ebute Metta.
In November 2012, Small Jepron held a party to mark his return from police custody, an event that resulted in a clash between his gang and another confraternity in the neighborhood.

The clash resulted in injuries to many residents and destruction of more than 10 cars.
With his reputation for violence, it has come as a shock to the residents of Shomolu why Small Jepron has been allowed back into the community.

Speaking to SaharaReporters on the condition of anonymity, a resident said Small Jepron’s  release was influenced by some highly placed politicians in Lagos State. He added that Small Jepron was arrested with his deputy in Eiye Confraternity for the same offence, but the latter is currently being held in Ikoyi Prisons.

“His deputy is still at Ikoyi Prisons for the offence, but he that is a serial killer is now released because of the local government election coming up. He was slapped with a minor charge at Panti, instead of murder charges,” the source said.
On August  24, 2016, the Lagos State Police Command paraded the 29-year old cultist for killing five people during a cult battle in Bariga. He was also accused of setting a house on fire in which Adejoke Adefuye, a 65-year-old woman, was burnt to death.
Before his second arrest in August, the Lagos State Police Command had declared him wanted for different murders in the Shomolu/Bariga axis.

In 2012, he allegedly killed one James Eremiye, an elder in the Ilaje community in Bariga, and blinded a man at Odo Eran in the same area.

Eremiye was said to have been killed while Small Jepron was carrying out an assignment given to him by a now rusticated traditional leader in the area. The deposed traditional ruler, disclosed a source, sent Small Jepron to get a certain land document and in the process, killed Eremiye. He confessed to the murder on national television but was released by the police about six months later.

Small Jepron confessed he join the Eiye Confraternity in 2009 to avenge the death of his close friend, who was killed by a rival cult group, Aye Confraternity. He admitted slitting the throat of a member of the rival gang and gunning down two others.
“I am an Eiye, cult leader. I joined the cult in 2009. The reason for my joining was to avenge the death of a close friend, Sunday Folorunsho, aka Small Biscuits. I have killed three persons among whom were Femi Wiper and  Lekan Akon. They were killed in the Somolu and Bariga areas. It was in the evening that Femi Wiper was killed.

“We were going out for a carnival during the Easter period on Alade Street in the Somolu area when a fight broke out. He was the one who first pointed a gun at me, and my boys hacked him to death,” he confessed openly.
