Bishop Peter Ebere Okpaleke (former Bishop of Ahiara): Exemplary Life.

By Rev. Dr. Chiedu A. Onyiloha (University of Port Harcourt)

His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Peter Ebere Okpaleke, the former Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara (Nigeria) remains a model of holiness, obedience and humility. On many instances he was lauded by His Holiness Pope Francis for being an illustrious son of the Church. Bishop Okpaleke is a consummate administrator and a great shepherd in the mould of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Again, his inspiring homilies, counsels, and accomplishments have changed many lives and brought them back to the Lord’s fold.

Bishop Okpaleke has manifested an exemplary pattern of life especially his matured and spirit-filled approach to the man-made crisis in the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara (Nigeria). Therefore, I join millions of well-meaning Catholics and non-Catholics in congratulating him on his laudable resignation from the pastoral duty as the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara (Nigeria).

Millions of testimonies abound of his sincere thoughts and proactive plans in serving God, the Church, and mankind as a humble and unassuming priest of God. We await God’s next assignment for him even as we continue to pray for his wellbeing and pastoral ministry. We thank God and may his name be glorified both now and forever, Amen.
