CHOOSING AND DISCOVERING YOUR LIFE PARTNER
A lot of people consider so many things when looking for a life partner. I mean to say, when looking for a husband or a wife. They consider complexion, race, beauty, body, mindset, favours, background, possessions, love, understanding, compatibility, feeling, passion, gesture, and personality. There is nothing wrong with setting standards, but don’t you know that standards may fail but the word of God will never fail.
People have wandered away from the principles of scriptures no wonder their future seems to be very unfruitful. It is the principle of scriptures that guarantees an enviable, buoyant future.
What is God’s own standard for choosing a life partner?
Proverbs 31:30 says; FAVOUR IS DECEITFUL, BEAUTY IS VAIN, BUT A WOMAN THAT FEARS GOD SHALL BE PRAISED.
Favour is necessary, beauty is super-important BUT if she does not fear God then there is a problem. If he does not fear God then there is danger.
Someone may go to church and still not fear God; someone may even look spiritual and still not fear God. Someone can also love the things of God and still not fear God. So to know if someone fears God could be very dicey as no one can see the heart, only God can.
But you can only know if that your partner-to-be fears God by fearing God yourself. This is the simple truth, if you truly fear God yourself you will know if him or her fears God.
The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. And wisdom is the principal thing. So in conclusion the fear of the LORD is the first pre-requisite for choosing a life partner. Beauty, money, intelligence, Love, compatibility, body all to mention but a few; all of these are good but it is the fear of the LORD that will make all these meaningful. BE BLESSED IN JESUS NAME.
