Nanny who kidnapped her employer’s children in the Surulere area of Lagos has said that kidnapping is her family’s business. The nanny, who confessed that her real name is Funmilayo Adeyemi, cited her husband Waheed Kareem as the mastermind of the kidnap. Other members of the gang include Adeyemi’s brother-in-law, Hakeem Kareem; her sister-in-law, Ajoke Oseni, and herself.

Adeyemi also confessed to have been responsible for the kidnap of two kids– Rapheal and Michael – in the Magodo area of Lagos State which prompted the relocation of the family from Ajah to Shasha to evade arrest. N15m ransom was initially demanded from the Orekoya family, which was later reduced to N13. An undisclosed amount of money was deposited into the bank account of the kidnappers before the children were released on Tuesday. Adeyemi pleaded for forgiveness from the family, saying she is a victim of bad marriage.
