How to Reset the Computer on My Pontiac Grand Prix 2000

You can reset the computer on your 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix at home. The computer, called an Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) computer,Renault CAN Clip receives signals from sensors positioned throughout the vehicle that tell it what is malfunctioning in the Grand Prix. The computer also keeps track of the car's regular maintenance needs and alerts you to the vehicle's malfunctions and servicing needs via warning and service lights on the dashboard. Once you have the vehicle serviced or repaired, you or your mechanic will need to reset the computer in order to shut off these lights.

Pop open the hood of your Grand Prix and prop it open with the rod. Locate the battery under the hood and find the "-" symbol,MVP Key Programmer indicating the negative battery terminal.

Find a bolt attached to the cable and loosen it with a wrench. Slide the cable off the terminal and take care not to touch it to anything -- especially to the positive side of the battery.

Put the key into the ignition and start the vehicle. Check the instrument panel to make sure all warning and service lights have turned off.
