The MBA is a terminal degree. The MBA is designed as providing an education for APPLIED business administration. If you want to work, start a business, or manage a company, the MBA is the end of the line.

If you want to go into theoretical approaches to business managment, then you can get a PhD. However, the PhD is a very different degree than the MBA and almost assurdly will HURT you if you want to look for a job in the work force. The PhD is designed for academics, for fundamental research into business models and practices. If your goal is to teach, perform research, develop models and give seminiars, then the PhD is the way to go.
