The military said, in response to an attack which saw six soldiers murdered, 28 suspected militants have been killed by troops at the weekend. The violence took place at the border between Plateau and Taraba states where series of sectarian violence has occured recently. Military spokesperson Ikedichi Iweha said, the millitants after killing the soldiers, removed their eyes, cut their tongues and decapitated their bodies in a most horrible manner, he added. He further said, the search for the attackers is still on.

Iweha, however, denied the an alarm raised by the traditional ruler of Kumbun community of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, Jessey Miri, that soldiers have killed more than 400 persons after invading three villages – Kadarko, Kurmi and Wadata.
