Are you left with itchy bumps or redness after every session of shaving? Those nagging bumps and irritation can be really frustrating along with embarrassing to show off. However, there are some ways to get rid of those pesky bumps! Here are a few tips on how to prevent and treat razor burn.

Before you begin shaving, it is a must to exfoliate and moisturize the area. Putting a razor to dry skin can cause lots of irritation and inflammation. This process also helps bring out hairs from underneath the skin’s surface, so that ingrown hairs are less likely to occur.

Another common mistake we make while shaving, is being too rough with our skin. Whether you have sensitive skin or not, being too harsh with a razor can cause a lot of itchiness and irritation. Make sure you do the task gently, for there is no need to be so hard on your skin with a razor. The hair will come off no matter what!

One of the most important factors of shaving, is to not use a dull razor! Dull razors often catch onto the skin, which can cause a lot of those bumps you may be experiencing. Its important to invest in a nice razor, and if you are not able to, then to throw away disposable ones after each use if they become dull or rusty.

If you’ve already obtained a nasty case of razor burn, do not fear! There are ways to treat it and to calm the symptoms down. Various drug and grocery stores offer creams and lotions to counteract the effects. Try to get your hands on some Aloe or Witch Hazel that will soothe the area and prevent further irritation.

So while razor burn can be an annoyance, especially during the summer, there are fortunately ways such as these to prevent it and treat it! So throw your favorite pair of shorts or swimsuit on, and get on out there!
