Confession: Ashlee Simpson tied the knot weeks ago and we're still thinking about her wedding. The reason the star's big day made such an impact on us? If you're now inspired to walk down the aisle wearing separates, follow these tips on how to keep the trendy look tasteful and stylish enough for your wedding day.

1. Keep it classy
According to Anna Sprague, head stylist at Miumiubridal.com there are three style checkpoints to pull off a crop top stunning wedding dresses: the top, the middle and the bottom. "The whole outfit is a balancing act, and the top should offer more coverage for your wedding than one you would wear to a festival," she says. It should feel traditional with a little bid of an edge.



2. Less is more
Only when it comes to how much midriff you show off, that is! "One to two inches of skin is plenty," warns Sprague. For the most flattering fit, she recommends finding a crop top and simple wedding dresses combo that reveals just a sliver of skin right above the naval, since the upper abs are the easiest to tone.

3. Opt for a high-waisted skirt
Believe it or not, many of the same rules of rocking a regular crop top also apply to bridal attire. For example, a high-waisted skirt, particularly one with the volume that a bride deserves, is an absolute must, notes MiuMiuBridal.

4. Balance it out
"From the dress's delicate lace overlay and generous mermaid wedding dresses to the bride's free-flowing hairstyle, in all, the dress was chic and elegant, and the crop top added a note of the au courant," she says.



5. Choose simple bridesmaid dresses
