If you are an entrepreneur or a manager then work place absence is costing you money, inconvenience and disrupt their customers. And as we all know, not all work days are removed due to genuine illness. Many employees "take a sickie" because their mood is low and they do not like or can not do their job.

The challenge for entrepreneurs and managers is that the happiest people in the workplace. And if people are happy at work, then it is less likely to take a day off every time you wake up with a stuffy nose.

Some managers believe that pay more money, improve safety at work or working conditions is the answer. It is not and also something that can be very difficult to achieve.

People who employ or supervise other people need to be more attentive to the needs of their employees, emotional, and find out what really motivates them. This is also much easier to achieve than pay more money or improve safety at work, however there is no quick fix.

To reduce the amount of leave that there are three steps you should consider.

First, choose the right person for the job. He needs to improve in the interviewing and selection of people.

Spend more time on it, paying more attention to the plaintiff

human side rather than their qualifications or experience. Get to know them better.

Find out what makes them happy, how well you know it with other people and the amount of energy and enthusiasm they have. Make sure they know what they are getting and make sure the job suits them.

Second, one must believe in its people. Although I have interviewed and picked the right person for the job, then you need to trust them to do the job. You need to constantly prove to his people who trust them and believe in what you say, the tone of his voice and body language.

If you think your people are not trustworthy, they are unable to make a decision without consulting you. You arrive late and go home early, then that is exactly what they will do.

If instead you think they will do their job well, they can be trusted to make decisions and give you the work of a market day, then most likely this is what you get.

As with all theories there is no guarantee it will work all the time, however, most employees are reasonable people and if they are treated as such, then it is more likely to behave in a positive way.

The third and probably the most important thing you can do to reduce absence and motivate people to give them feedback and coach them.

This is where many employers to drop heads in dealing with people, we are hopeless at giving feedback. Many managers are uncomfortable telling staff how they feel about their job performance.

Most employees want to know how you're doing at work, want to know if you are doing well or how they could do better.

If you really want to motivate your people, then you need to give their opinion about what you are doing well and what needs improvement.

When you observe an employee doing something they like, tell them about it. When you notice something that does not like, tell them about it.

Do it as soon as possible. Recognize a job well done is not much, six months later. Also, if you do not immediately call someone's attention to something you're not happy, then assume it's okay. Either that or
think I did not notice or care.

Do it in private. Why is it that some managers still feel it's okay to reprimand someone in front of your colleagues? Even the mildest rebuke can have a negative effect on morale.

When speaking with the person use "I". They say things like "I like the way you did" or "I'm not happy with the way your reports are always late and I would like your opinion on why that is."

Avoid "you" and "You're doing fine." That can come across as patronizing or insincere. "You're doing everything wrong that" may cause a conflict, low
morals and can not order the problem.

They focus on one or two things. Do not run a whole list of attributes or faults. Also be specific about the behavior of labor, focus on what the person did or did not do, not making a personal attack.

Employees will feel happier if they perceive that their employer or manager as a reasonable and fair person - a person who is quick to praise but also says that when they are unhappy about something.

The message is - if you want a motivated then make their work interesting, give them information and give them the feeling that they are involved in the business.

We can make work more interesting, giving people more responsibility, assigning projects and training and developing them. We need to give people with regular information on how they are doing, focusing on what they are doing well and what is not so good. To satisfy their need to feel involved that regularly communicate both formally and informally. Could also involve staff in meetings that would not normally attend.

These steps will take time and thought, however, that will make a big difference in how employees feel about their work. If they feel good and get the satisfaction of their work, then it is less likely to find a reason to "have a
sickie ".
