Children need to be kids and enjoy their time as children. But at the same time as they grow, they must also learn to make money and function in our society as responsible adults.

Often, they get a job at a Burger Joint, where you learn to listen to a boss, and working with others, but may also have to give up some extracurricular activities, study time and family time. Not terrible things, but enough of a challenge that many families are helping their children start their own businesses.

Why? We will compare the lessons of their child is learning to work in a burger verses start a business.

1. Responsibility.

Burger Joint: Yes, it teaches responsibility. You need to report to work and do a good job or your boss and coworkers are angry with you.

Entrepreneur: It teaches you responsibility. You need to work hard or not paid.

2. The value of a dollar

Burger Joint: You learn that time is money.

Entrepreneur: You learn that creativity, ownership of responsibility and hard work is money.

3. How to market yourself

Burger Joint: It teaches you to fill out an application and an interview to market itself. To this end, once and then you're done.

Entrepreneur: You have the business market and continuously if you want to make money.

4. Customer Service

Burger Joint: Service with a smile, or your boss may reprimand.

Employer: Service with a smile or not you repeat business and their income drops.

5. Skills Bank

Burger Joint: You will learn to collect a paycheck and how to deposit in the bank.

Entrepreneur: You learn how to budget for advertising costs, taxes, and expenses, and weigh against the benefits. You learn to deposit their earnings in the bank and checks to cover expenses. You learn how business works.

As you can see, both options have advantages. As for the option you choose? That depends on you and your child.
