What employers look for in prospective employees? That was the question that was recently published in an online discussion forum on race. Naturally, for each position, including answers to this question would be different. However, there are some common skills that employers look for in all employees, if the employee happens to be a network engineer or a chef.

In-demand Skills for Success

1. Basic skills, reading, writing and arithmetic! Believe it or not, a good part of high school graduates (and some college graduates) do not read at grade 8 level and can not do multiplication in your head. Employers are seeking employees who can read, you can write coherently, and can calculate in a business math (fractions, percentages, etc) Add to that the basic skills of keyboard skills, basic computer knowledge , and the ability to use most tools (eg fax machines, basic program for word processing, etc.) To complete the basic skill sets needed for successful employment.

2. PERSONAL SKILLS, Can a potential employee to speak well? Can you answer customer questions in a positive, informative? It can provide good customer service perspective? While not everyone has the personality of a projection of sales, employees can communicate successfully in a non-confrontational, positive manner with coworkers, team members, subordinates, management, and customers. Being able to work well with others is a vital skill for success in all jobs.

3. ACHIEVEMENT OF WORK, job search is a process that requires much dedication and care that was carried out successfully. It follows the old director many veteran programmers refer to as GIGO, garbage in, garbage out. If you put bad effort, you will get bad results. Employers are seeking employees who know how they are presented in a positive way and show the enthusiasm and knowledge about the companies that are approaching. Not only the candidates are evaluated on their skills and experience, but also how they are approaching the job search. Enthusiastic candidates with less skill have a chance to even get work as a boring candidate with better skills.

4. WORK OF SURVIVAL, is now a hot topic in this period of layoffs. Who gets the ax and that there is often a matter of numbers but also is often a matter of performance. Employees who have consistently demonstrated their value, taken the initiative, and became a valuable asset to the company have a lower incidence of employees being reduced to a mediocre or average effort in their jobs. Survive in a company through layoffs or move up the career ladder successfully is a skill that is learned and is consciously nurtured among successful professionals.

5. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, like all high-tech professionals and knowledge engineering, is to learn or record on the working environment of today. The achievement of new skills, the application of new concepts, updating established knowledge is an absolute necessity for success in today's workforce. The successful person is constantly attending seminars, taking classes, making the formation of new products or new products, and otherwise learn new skills to remain marketable in their careers. Successful people are lifelong learners. Employers are looking for people who have the necessary training to meet your needs.

6. Professional development, professional development differs Professional Development. Professional development is learning at the same time is a career development planning and goal setting. Successful people develop a career plan with written goals short term and long term. They lay out the steps needed to advance their careers from point A to point B, corresponding to C time frame and plan how they will achieve those steps. Successful people have someone who should be accountable for their progress and monitor their success in achieving its objectives. Employers look for people who (believe it or not) want to engage with the company for a long period of time. Good career development is a high selling point for candidates to potential employers.
