Want to be rich and famous? Most of us would be happy with just one, but acting extras usually end up not! That said, it can be fun and also a foot in the door of the film and television world. Here are some things to consider.

Be aware of the tricks Con

There are many scams and cons that take advantage of peoples desire to be acting extras. The most common cons often include very high fees for joining a body acting extras. These fees can be $ 100 and usually entitles you to composites or head shots at best meaningless and at worst, misleading, or the promise of a series of acting classes, if they materialize, are of no real benefit.
To avoid these pitfalls, find an agency well established reputation. There will be one registration fee of $ 20 or $ 30 to pay the initial administration. But after they make money when you do - that's their job! They will work to find the auditions that suit your skills and physical type.If has a specific skill or physical attribute can charge more. It is worth noting that if you have an agent and get a job yourself, without your contribution, you still have to pay. If you are an agent and can not get any work at all what might happen to another, giving them 30 days notice of cancellation of the contract in writing.

They behave in the set.

Additional action as bad behavior on the set can have a tremendous amount of work out there.
Some rules are good;
Arrive early
If you are new, watch and learn from their more experienced colleagues,
It is worthwhile to bring a book because it can be on set with nothing to do for hours, be patient. But when asked to do something I do now.
Treat the cast and crew with courtesy and respect,
Food is provided, but knows his place in the hierarchy - the lower,
Never bother the stars! If you start a conversation then answer, but you are there to do a job, get paid to be a fan or to fill your autograph book.

Bad behavior will jeopardize all their chances of being asked or even sent back set on the spot.

Keep your eyes and ears open.

This not only applies to taking advice from more experienced extras on set as mentioned above, but also applies to job search. Commercials, films and television shows are filmed across the country and when a scene shot outdoors then the locals can get jobs as extras. The advertisements for these jobs can be found in the local press and although they are in the bottom of the pay scale, which could be the start of something bigger or just a good experience.

Get a SAG card.

There are two kinds of extras, which have a card from the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and those without. The Screen Actors Guild was established to improve working conditions for actors. SAG card means you get paid more and hopefully your career develops faster. All extra starts without the card, then as it become increasingly the work of their chances of getting an upgrade. The basic rule is more work to get the more likely you'll get the card once the card the more money you get paid. Easy!

I hope this short article has helped me. Acting as an extra can be fun, you may not make you rich and famous, but you can make some good friends and some great dinner party stories!
