If you back up, one step from disaster. If you backup often do several steps. Learn how often backups and how to make your own backup program.

No doubt, you can backup to any backup media that you want, but if one does not adhere to a backup program, the majority of efforts intended to store or protect important information will be spent in vain .

First, we must find out what the backup, as the backup program largely depends on the size of backup data:

- Small amounts of data (important documents of work) can be backed up frequently, hourly, daily and at least once a week

- Medium quantities of files (emails, project documents and working papers) can be backed up daily, weekly or monthly (at least)

- Large amounts of data (emails, project documents, data files, configuration files, etc) can be backed up weekly or monthly

- Large amounts of data (all of the above images, audio - mp3 and videos - mpegs) can be a backup monthly or annual

- Total backup (a backup of all data on your computer) can be backed up weekly, monthly or yearly.

What backup program you choose depends on you, but you also need to choose a backup software to do that and set the date of a scheduled backup.

First, the backup software must support the backup medium you want to backup (CD, DVD, FTP, LAN, USB external or flash drive, etc). Then select the files you want to backup, choose the time you want to back up and get out. Some programs may run as a service and should not be implemented, but some must be running when you want the backup to run. In any case, the team must be at the time of the backup schedule.

Think about the time of a backup program does not matter? What happens if you run during your work day and slows your team for an hour or two? To continue working _and_ comply with the backup schedule, simply set the backup to run a couple of hours before or after your working time. Thus not be interrupted by a scheduled backup.
