Clean rooms are rooms that are designed to reduce the level of airborne particles like dust in the air and microbes. Clean room construction employs filters extensively. Outside air is filtered to prevent dust from entering the room. Filters and processes will be in place within the room to remove internally generated contaminants during production and work areas are often more locally and filtered laminar flow bench.

Staff usually have to enter the rooms clean through airlocks and wear protective gear while working inside the rooms.

There are different "classes" of clean rooms, each different kind of limitation allowable number of particles per cubic meter and the maximum size particles. Thus, a Class 1 clean room is one where the number of particles should not exceed 1. 000 particles per cubic meter.

Clean rooms are widely used in the pharmaceutical industry in semiconductor manufacturing and biotechnology industries. Data recovery centers typically use a class 100 clean room that has a number of 100,000 particles per cubic meter (compared to 35 million particles per cubic meter in a regular room).

Why use clean rooms for data recovery?

Clean rooms are used for data recovery to prevent dust, electro static discharge and such disturbances. Such precautions are necessary because even microscopic dust particles can damage the image of the disk platters, and making data retrieval difficult.

With each generation of discs, the data fills more and more densely on the disk platters. Therefore increasingly important that data recovery was attempted in exceptionally clean rooms.

Manufacturers often specify that their records product warranty is void if the unit is open to anyone but themselves, or their authorized agents. And usually, one of the conditions imposed on authorized agents, is that the disc tray will open in cleanrooms meet specified standards.

So, clean rooms are necessary for recovery of data on performance and product warranty considerations.

Clean Room Data Recovery

Drives opens only in the rooms clean and kept there until the recovery is complete and the unit is closed. All devices are protected against electrostatic discharge, physical shock, temperature fluctuations and electrical noise.

Staff work wear special clothes, while in the rooms and the particle density is constantly monitored using particle counters. One of the typical goals of the centers of clean room data recovery is to maintain the conditions of the class 10 during production.

Conclusion

Data storage media are increasingly filled with data and with greater density in each new generation of units. Therefore, it is extremely important to try to recover data in the rare books room dust.

These days, clean room data recovery using the class 100 clean rooms, which reduced the number of particles per about 350 times compared with the density of particles that usually prevail.

Clean room data recovery centers in fact aim to achieve higher levels of dust-free conditions during production operations. Even minute specks of dust disks in the unit can damage the image of the media, and make data recovery even more difficult if not impossible.
