Osu Caste System And Igbo Hypocrisy

This 28th December 2018 ceremonial abolition of Osu Caste System in Igbo land is not a solution to the traditional caste system. The councils that discuss this scourge know how to put an end to the stigmatisation of the members of our society we consider as outcasts. It will do us no good to bring people together, eat and binge, and then conclude that Osu system is abolished. It will never work like that.

There is no need to call another jamboree in the name of abolishing Osu in Igbo land. It has been abolished since 1956. Referring to anybody as Osu is against the law and will send whoever does that to prison. If we are true to ourselves, the reinforcement of the already established law is what is needed.

I saw a list of requirements for nomination of kingship from a town that lost their King recently (for reasons, let the town's name remain anonymous), the first on the list is: He must be a freeborn. If a common me saw this, is it possible that nobody in Governor Obiano's government saw it also?

These are men that are gunning for the abolition of the already abolished Osu caste system. Most of  them will receive envelops and get contracts that will run into millions to abolish what was abolished, and yet, they will not say anything bad about what was enlisted in their requirements. They will not permit a young fellow that was born years after Osu Caste System was abolished to rule him.

Let's keep playing hide and seek, and making money on social vices. A day will surely come when the bush meat will catch the hunter.
