What do you think about poker online?

Hi everyone!

I'm a huge fan of videogames, and I love to try new things. I'm always following the news about the games I already like, like The Last of Us or From Software stuff, but I don't really like playing online. The multiplayer games are not really my thing, but my friends are quite obsessed with some online games such as Fortnite (predictably) or poker online. I've played Fortnite a few times, and it was fun but still not my cup of tea, so I'm thinking about joining them in the poker online thing. According to what they've told me, it's quite easy, but I've never played poker, nor online nor irl, and I don't know if I would be able to get by. I think I'll like it because I love strategy games and I think poker is all that, but I'm afraid of losing money while I learn how to not do so. So, any recommendations or things I should know before I start?
