Court Grants N 2m Bail To Lawyer Over Alleged Forgery, Cheating

A Chief Magistrates Court in Karu on Thursday admitted one Tanmembee Alexander, a barrister, 38, of Surulere in Lagos, to a bail bond of N2 million over alleged forgery and cheating.

Chief Magistrate Adedamola Oyeyipo admitted the accused to bail with two reliable and responsible sureties in like sum who must reside within the court's jurisdiction.

He said the addresses of the sureties must be verified by a court official, and they must submit two passport size photographs each to the court's registry.
He also said that one of the sureties must be a senior civil servant on Grade Level 15, and must submit letter of his last promotion and appointment letter to the court.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr Sani Yakubu, told the court that the accused was reported to the Durumi police station by one Kingsley Osuoha, of Durumi, Abuja on Oct 3.

The prosecutor said " the complainant reported that the accused person had, sometimes in August 2012, induced his cook, Barnabas Bozham  and one John Ahmadu with the sum of N5 million to give him the certificate of occupancy of plot 1395, Guzape District, Abuja belonging to him (complainant).
