Valentine 's Day celebrations
turned tragic in Ado Ekiti,
Ekiti State as cultists hacked
a young man whose identity
is yet to be ascertained to
death in a hotel on Iyin Road.
Two other persons yet to be
identified were also
murdered at different points
in Adebayo area of Ado-Ekiti.
The victim, who was
murdered in the hotel, was
having fun at a music fiesta
when suddenly some
persons believed to be
cultists stormed the venue
and began shooting
sporadically into the air.
Everyone scampered to
safety but the victim was
felled by the bullets from the
sophisticated guns
brandished by the cultists.
Eyewitness account had it
that merrymakers at a
restaurant on the opposite
side of the hotel ran into the
bush behind the restaurant
and hid there till the gun
battle subsided.
The lifeless body of another
victim simply identified as a
student of University of Ado
Ekiti was found in front of his
residence at Araromi
Quarters in Adebayo area of
Ado-Ekiti.
He was said to have been
dragged out of his flat in a
bungalow marked "Peace
Island" and "Uptown Villa"
on Sunday by some persons
believed to be cultists.
Other residents could not
rescue him from the claws of
the cultists as they ran into
hiding to avoid being
attacked.
Another dismembered body
of a teenager was also found
at Akinlabi Olu Avenue, off
Housing Road in the same
Adebayo area yesterday 's
morning.
Some parts of the body
including the eyes and
private part were removed.
An eyewitness, who craved
anonymity, told Daily Sun:
"We just woke up this
morning and discovered the
lifeless body of this young
girl, who could not be more
than 15 years. We
discovered that her eyes
and some other parts of her
body had already been
chopped off. Immediately we
realized this, some of the
residents contacted the
police to get the body
evacuated. "
When Daily Sun visited Oke-
Ila Police Divisional
headquarters in Ado Ekiti, all
the cops kept mum.
A police source, however,
confirmed the incident on the
condition of anonymity.
He said: "It actually
happened. Even as we were
battling with the ones that
happened last Saturday
night, another one happened
today, even close to us
here. A teenager was killed
around here and we heard
some of her parts were
missing. "
Adebayo is area where no
fewer than 5,000 students of
UNAD reside.
