Aisha Buhari Donates Food Palliatives to Religious Groups as Part of her ongoing Response to Covid-19 Pandemic

First Lady of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has donated Food to some Religious Groups in continuation of her intervention towards cushioning the impact of COVID-19 Pandemic. She presented the food items which comprises of large quantities of bags of rice, sugar and other commodities on Monday the 4th and Tuesday 5th of May 2020 through her representative, Dr. Hajo Sani, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on women Affairs and Administration.

The first  BATCH of beneficiaries on Monday were the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) FCT Branch, received by the chairman, Rev. Dr. Jonah Samson on behalf of the group, and the Catholic Church through the Archbishop of the FCT, Most Rev. Father Ignatius Kaigama who was represented by Rev. Father Musa Sebastian. The groups expressed their gratitude to the First Lady for showing love and care to the underprivileged of their parishes especially during the time of their need and prayed for the First Lady and the Country as a whole and for an end to the Pandemic. The Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen was in attendance at both events on Monday.

The second  BATCH of the beneficiaries received their food items on Tuesday and they comprises of Ansaruddeen Society of Nigeria, the Chief Imam of the FCT branch Dr. Musa Olaofe received the items on their behalf, while Mr. Tiamiyu Abimbole, the Admin Secretary of NASFAT collected on behalf of his group (FCT branch). Other beneficiaries were the Darika Sect and Jamaatu Izalatul Bid'ah Wa Ikamatul Sunnah (JIBWIS), Mallam Musa Hassan Isa received the food items on behalf of JIBWIS. The respected Imam and representatives of the groups also passed a message of gratitude to the First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari while they prayed for the country to see the end of the Pandemic.

Mrs. Buhari enjoined all the groups to ensure that the food palliatives gets to the most vulnerable of their members through a fair, just and equitable distribution, while calling on all Nigerians to pray for an end to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

"I also wish to call on your respective leadership to use this period to preach to your congregations on the virtues of humanity and also embark on awareness campaign on the Covid-19 Pandemic, especially the guidelines and protocols of our health officials in prevention and mitigation of this deadly virus, you are the leaders of faith and people will listen to you when you preach to them, there is the need for Nigerians to be aware that the Coronavirus is real and we have to adhere to the health guidelines such as observing basic hygiene culture of washing hands with soaps and sanitizers and physical distancing when we step out of our habitats" said Mrs. Buhari.
