Relaxation is an excellent method to relieve the mind and this is adopted in arthritis therapy and will eliminate the chances of symptoms troubling the patient. Arthritis is the most common illness for which medical help is sought after. It is essential to digest the 'ama' to reduce the 'vata' and this is done by strict regulations in the lifestyle adopted and eating only that is easily digestible. Arthritis is associated with pain and inflammation and it is understood that the accumulated waste products produce the 'ama' which deposits in the weaker parts of the body causing the pain in susceptible individuals when conditions turn favorable for arthritis. The mental situation plays a vital role in triggering the symptoms associated with arthritis and in order to suppress it, the mind must be in a relaxed state and for this relaxation techniques like meditation must be practiced. Fasting and some natural home remedies have been found to be useful in controlling the symptoms. Fruits, nuts, warm milk, and cooking with certain spices like fennel are good digestible foods but certain vegetables like cabbage, beans, cauliflower, broccoli etc. have found to be gas producing and therefore not in the arthritis eatable list. Earlier arthritis had been associated with old age but off late due to erratic eating habits and sedentary life-style arthritis is seen to be common among the youngsters too. The types include rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, ankylosing spondylosis among other formS and symptoms are of the recurrent type.
