No fewer than 28 people have been reported dead from a strange disease which suddenly broke out in the Ode-Irele community of Ondo state. The disease, according to residents broke out three days ago and spread rapidly around the community, killing its victim within 24 hours.

Although the cause of the disease is not yet ascertained, preliminary reports from victims by experts, revealed neurologic clinical symptoms: blindness, and loss of consciousness. While Ebola Alert said 28 people have died from the disease, the State Health Commissioner, Dayo Adeyanju, put the number of dead victims at 12 even as he said, the State Government is working hard to control the strange disease. Residents have claimed that the ailment have spiritual undertone and people were seen performing rituals in the community, which they believe will appease the god and bring the disease to an end.
