A map is an aid used in making navigation through a web site easier. Contains the web site structure with links in the main parts and subsections of the website.

web site map has a practical use and essential. It is easier for visitors to visit and browse through the website. The navigation aid ensures that no loss and not have to look in vain for the information or page you need. A visitor is immediately the information you need quickly on a website is more likely to return for another visit.

Many webmasters, designers and webmasters do not fully exploit the uses and benefits of having a good map. For most of them merely provide a list of links that do not really give a good service to visitors of the website is more than enough. For them, provided that the spiders can find the pages in your site, then they are happy. But is not it better if you can design a web site that is not only helpful for their visitors, but also adds value to your website?

The characteristic of a good map is that each link has an accompanying description of the landing page for each link. This helps visitors who come to your site and based on that navigation through your web pages.

Two examples:

Example 1

Link with no description

Rock music

Example 2

Link with description

Rock music, the history of British rock music from the Beatles to the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Duran Duran, U2, The best British bands and rock bands in history. Track of how rock music evolved in Britain.

There is a clear difference between these two examples. From a superficial glance at the two examples it is clear that, obviously, the second example is much more effective in giving the right information to visitors. Web site visitors are more likely to appreciate the type of ad is shown in Example 2. This is because most people are more at home with a search ad engine style because it is easier to navigate. Nobody wants to visit a web site and see a map presented in a manner similar to the first example, because there is a total lack of information.

There is also an added benefit of making a descriptive map. Help increase your position in search engines.

For the construction of your map so that all links to related pages on each page of the site, you are doing, in effect, a thematic map page. Say you have 7 pages that are related to British rock music, putting everything together to make a British rock themepage. This type of page will have the element of a search engine considers it essential for a high ranking web page: keyword rich text.

Worth making a good map. Make a conscious effort to make a will bring great benefits to your website.
