Owning a cell phone can be fun. It is portable, convenient, and it is comforting to have when driving alone late at night. But now there are millions of people with cell phones, cell phone proper etiquette is becoming a concern.

Owning a cell phone does not give a person the right to be rude or inconsiderate of others. It may be well to take the phone with you and have it on while you are in business settings, with the exception of business meetings, but not acceptable in some social contexts.

People in a theater is not going to see if your cell phone is ringing in a movie. Will be even more upset if the answer and talk during the movie. A good dinner quietly in a restaurant can be ruined if someone at the table next to you has his phone turned on and receiving calls. I've even been in the church close to someone who apparently thought it was okay to take a call during services. Was close enough to hear what you say and it definitely was not an urgent call.

Yes, sometimes it may be necessary for your cell phone even if you're in a restaurant, theater, concert hall, or meetings. In these situations, put the phone on vibrate. If the phone is turned off, discreetly check to see who is calling. If necessary talk to the caller, apologized and go to a quiet place out of earshot of the other guests, customers theater, etc, and call back.

In some parts of wireless phone jamming devices were installed in public places so that the phone will not work. In many other places, the signs are beginning to appear telling people to turn off their cell phones, both public and private buildings. Do not turn off a cell phone can even cost some money person. In New York, is a $ 50 fine for violating an ordinance prohibiting the use of mobile phones / cell in all indoor events.

A person can choose to be part of the problem or part of the solution. If people are considerate of others, there will be no interference devices need more "no cellphone" signs, and more laws passed to end users who do not obey the "no cell phone" rules .

Ensure that voice mail is installed on the phone. Encourage people to leave a message for you if they can not answer the phone. Then return your call as soon as possible. But be sure to return the call. Just as it is inconsiderate to take a call in a restaurant or a theater, etc. There is also inconsiderate not return a call in a timely manner.
