The Peoples Democratic Party has said that Kogi State is currently in the hands of tyrants who have no respect for human lives as the citizens are dying daily of common ailment due to non-payment of workers' salaries.

The PDP said this at a stakeholders' meeting of the Kogi West Senatorial district of the party held at Rekiya Ogheha Place in Lokoja on Thursday
Those present at the meeting included a former Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Prince Sola Akanmode, a former Secretary to the State Government, Sola Ojo, a former PDP state chairman, Chief Hassan Salawu, Henry Ojuola, and Chief Kola Ojo, who is the Kogi West zonal chairman.

Ojo, who briefed the press after the meeting, said the All Progressives Congress-led administration in the state had come to spread poverty, hardship and sickness as hundreds of people had been sent to their early graves due to poor economic management and insensitivity to the plight of the people by the government.

He added, "This Yahaya Bello administration is heartless, inconsiderate, insensitive and irresponsive to the plight of Kogi civil servants, it has utterly failed the people as it is bereft of ideas on what to do to move the state forward."

Ojo said the APC was running a government of deceit and blackmail, saying the new direction policy agenda of Bello's administration was aimed at strangulating the masses and making the poor poorer.

He added that in almost a year of the administration, nothing had been done in the state except "rudderless screening."

However, the Director General, Media and Strategy to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo, described the PDP's position as quite paradoxical.

He said, "Someone defecated on the floor and then turn around to blame the person parking it of being slow. The previous PDP administrations in the state were responsible for the rot we are trying to clean. The last government left the civil service morally broken. Months went without payment of salaries."

Fanwo said there were evidences that certain people were desperately bringing their leaders back to stifle the resolve of the present administration to reposition the state.

"Governor Yahaya Bello is not expecting the PDP to be happy with his reformS and resolve to question previous administrations over how the commonwealth of the people was managed," he said.
