Plans by The All Progressives Congress (APC) to adopt former Head of State, Gen. Mohammed Buhari (rtd) as its consensus candidate for the 2015 presidential election seems to have been concluded and set for implementation.

This  became apparent with the open declaration of support for Buhari by the party’s national leader and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the course of the party’s October 17, 2014 National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

Buhari's soaring popularity in different opinion polls conducted recently in the country and his antecedent of garnering over 12 million votes almost single handedly in the 2011 election may have necessitated this move by Tinubu.

According to a Vanguard source Tinubu has decided to bankroll the campaign of Buhari, who allegedly took a loan for his nomination form.
