BAYELSA WEST AND CENTRAL SENATORIAL BYE-ELECTION

Gov. Diri votes in Sampou in Senatorial bye-election

The Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has cast his vote in polling Ward 7 polling unit 4 in Sampou community, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area along with  his wife,  Dr. Mrs. Gloria Diri.

Governor Diri, who voted at about 9.30am commended the peaceful conduct so far.

The Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo has also cast his vote at his country-home in Ofoni, Ward 6, Unit 4 in Sagbama Local Government Area around 8:56 where he commended the people's peaceful disposition and enjoined electorates to observe Covid-19 protocols.

Reports gathered around 9:25 am from the fields, most of the election materials have been received at the polling units.

Voting in progress in many units across the five LGAs where election is taking place.

Election yet to commence in some places too like;

A few skirmishes have been reported in Yenagoa LGA ward 11, units 9 and 10 and Sagbama ward 1, Unit 1, Yenagoa ward 4, Unit 7.

In Southern Ijaw LGA, it has been relatively calm for now unlike previous elections.

Materials have been distributed in Ward 1, 2, 4 ,6 and 10.

Voting in progress while other electorate are eagerly waiting to exercise their civic rights.
