Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former governor of Lagos State and leader of the All Progressives Congress yesterday said he did not apologise to a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain in the state, Bode George. According to a statement from Tinubu's media office, George had alleged that Tinubu had begged him for forgiveness at the burial of Chief Arisekola Alao. But in the statement, Tinubu said he never offended Bode George in anyway and therefore could not have begged for forgiveness.

Tinubu while clarifying what happened at the burial of Chief Arisekola Alao said, Oba Otudeko and Govenor Ajimobi of Oyo State prevailed on him to greet Bode George in honour of Arisekola. He further said at the request of the duo, he turned back and went to greet George by saying, 'Good afternoon Egbon.' Tinubu said Bode George can interpret same as apology, but no apology was made nor intended. The former governor said Bode George is free to stay in Lagos even after threatening to go into exile should the APC, win the governorship election in the state.
