By Joseph Egbeocha (ABS News)

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano says plans by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to expand voter access to Polling Units in the State will encourage more citizens participation in the electoral process.
Governor Obiano made the remark at the ongoing “Stakeholders Forum On Expansion Of Voter Access To Polling Units” holding today, 10th May 2021 at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.

The forum, organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Anambra State, has in attendance, representatives of People Living With Disabilities, members of the State Executive Council, members of the National and State Lawmakers, Chairmen of Local Government Areas, Traditional rulers, Presidents-General, Women Groups, Civil Society Organizations, Leaders of LGA Councils, INEC Staff, Security agencies, among others.

Governor Obiano, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, thanked the Commission for the worthy objectives of organising the forum, expressing hope that the outcome will help in the achieving improved exercise in the coming Governorship election in the State.

Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji, in his remarks, said the forum became necessary in order to improve quality of electoral processes, noting that some existing Polling Units in the State do not make it easy for people to exercise their democratic rights.
