I personally don't think that the national chairman of the PDP should resign.

I think it would be a grievous mistake for him to do so at this critical hour. I do not even think that those calling for his removal mean well.

Soon after president Goodluck Jonathan became the PDP presidential candidate in 2014, there were calls for the then PDP chairman , Bamanga Tukur , to step down.

I did not support such calls. I felt that those who didn't want Jonathan to win  were behind the calls. Tukur was the most sincere supporter of Jonathan at the time and they wanted him out in other to be able to betray him.

Sadly, Jonathan succumbed to the the calls and let Tukur go. They brought in Adamu Muazu who acted as a spy against Jonathan and played a great role in removing Jonathan from office.

I firmly believe that this is the same strategy that they want to use against Atiku Abubakar ,if he lets them.

Like I urged president Jonathan then, I would strongly urge Atiku Abukakar not to let this happen.

The PDP constitution does not say that the national chairman and presidential candidate cannot come from the same region. No.

What the PDP constitution says is that the national Chairman and the PRESIDENT cannot come from the same region. And ,yes, Atiku Abubakar is not yet the president of Nigeria.

In any case, this is not the first time that the national chairman and presidential candidate of the party are from the same region of the country.

During the run up to the 2007 presidential election, the then PDP candidate ,Yar Adua, and the national chairman, Amadu Ali, were both for the North.

They stayed together and prosecuted the 2007 general election and won. It was only after Yar Adua was sworn in as president that Amadu Ali resigned and paved the way for a southerner to become the national chairman.

I would strongly urge our current presidential candidate and the present national chairman to follow the Yar Adua-Amodu Ali example , and not the Jonathan example.

Let me end by saying that the talk of PDP being unfair to the South is not rooted in reality. It is a lie that has been told several times to the extent that feeble minded persons may begin to believe it.

The fact is that,  of PDP's 16 years in power , the south has had 13 years.  That's a super majority. With such a record, how do you convince any sensible person that PDP has been unfair to the South?
