A BIG LESSON FROM THE MISTAKE OF CHIEF OMEKANNIA ANAYO OKOYE IN THE UMUOJI IGWESHIP ELECTION When Chief Omekannia Anayo Okoye had the highest vote in the first ballot without having two third majority, he new that there was going to be a rerun/runoff election between him and Chief Barrister Simeon Muogbo as announced, instead of going back to re strategize and do his home work very well, he was busy rejoicing that he has won when he knew quite well that he did not win.
His Mgbago supporters started singing and dancing round UMUOJI shouting. Okwo Mgbago na echi Igwe, oga aha na anya azi,
Meaning that Mgbago is born to rule, it is their birthright and can not be otherwise, after all onye ka Ndi Mgbada bu.
This single act of Ndi Mgbago made the entire Mgbada to come together to massively vote for Chief Barrister Simeon Muogbo at the rerun/runoff election in other to vote out chief Omekannia Okoye, to show Mgbago that the IGWESHIP OF UMUOJI IS NOT THEIR BIRTHRIGHT AS THEY CLAIM.
Meanwhile as Mgbago was busy rejoicing, dancing and singing that the IGWESHIP of UMUOJI is their birthright,
They forgot that Chief Anayo's village Umuechem is not Mgbago even though they are living at Mgbago.
they forgot that Umuechem is the smallest village in Dimechem and their vote will also be the smallest based on their number.
they forgot that the entire Mgbago will not vote since it is Dimechem affair.
they forgot that they are not Dimechem and as such they will not be involved in the entire process.
They didn't even know that Chief Barrister Simeon Muogbo's urumpku village is one of the biggest Villages in Dimechem and Umuoji as a whole and over 80% of the men are financial members of Urumpku Uka Oye village meeting which makes them eligible voters,
which is an added advantage to Chief Barrister Simeon Muogbo.
Ndi Mgbada was busy canvassing for votes, campaigning, reuniting and convincing all and sundry in Mgbada on the need to vote in Barrister Simeon Muogbo based on his pedigree, peace initiative and to ensure that we prove Mgbago wrong and show them that UMUOJI IGWESHIP is all inclusive.
It eventually worked for IGWE Barrister Simeon Muogbo and at the end over 80% of the entire Dimechem which is made up of Mgbada massively voted for Chief Barrister Simeon Muogbo as the new IGWE of UMUOJI and that is why there is no single protest in all the villages that makes up Dimechem.
Let us learn that:
Even when you are leading in the first half of a contest, you don't assume you've won until you hear the final whistle and you are declared the winner.
We must also know that for the fact that you've been in a position for long as the Mgbagos were thinking, does not make it your birthright neither is it a justifiable reason to exclude other from it.
We must learn to respect everyone and don't belittle anybody, don't underestimate what anybody can do no matter how influential, connected or popular you think you are because the person you are not seeing as a threat can pull a surprise.
Why did I say so, Chief Omekannia saw Chief Obi Onwuachu as a threat, Chief Obi Onwuachu saw Chief Omekannia as a threat.
But both Chief Omekannia Okoye and Chief Obi Onwuachu SAW Chief Barrister Simeon Muogbo as OFE NKU PU.
They saw him as a nobody that they can easily defeat, at a point, they even asked him to stepdown for them but at the end he won the two of them.
