Although no reason was giving for relieving Suleiman Abba of his work as the police boss, sources said Abba was fired for allegedly arguing with government officials over directive to recall AIG Tunde Ogunshakin, a no nonsense police officer, from Rivers on the eve of Governorship elections.

A presidency source said the government felt betrayed on learning that Ogunshakin has been deployed  to Rivers against orders. Although Abba redeployed Ogunshakin reluctantly from Rivers by 5 a.m on election day, he was not to be forgiven. Abba's presence at the presentation of certificate of return to a General Muhammadu Buhari is also part of his sins that got him fired.
