Six ‘Firsts’ of Kamala Harris, US Vice President-Elect
On Saturday, Kamala Harris emerged the first female vice president-elect in American history.

It’s worth noting that Harris has a knack for blazing the trail in her political career.

Below are some of her‘firsts’:

1. With the US 2020 election called by major western media, Harris is the first Black woman to emerge America’s vice president-elect.

2. She is also the first South Asian woman to become US vice president-elect and first to serve in the United States Senate.

3. In 2010, she became the first Black woman elected as California attorney general

4. In 2003, Harris won her first election for San Francisco district attorney, becoming the first Black woman to hold such an office in California.

5. In 2020, Harris became the first graduate of a historically Black college or university to be selected as a major party's candidate's running mate.

6. Harris said that her late mother, Shyamala Gopalan often told her, “Kamala, you may be the first to do many things, but make sure you're not the last."
