The household of the famous traditional ruler, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji is in mourning.

Oba Adetunji's daughter, Princess Mujidat Adejoke Adetunji-Alagbada has died in a car crash on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Vanguard reports.
The late princess has since been buried according to Islamic injunctions in Ibadan.

A source at the palace told The Punch that the princess died after a taxi she chattered was involved in an accident around the Lagos end of the Lagos-Ibadan Express Road.

His words: "Olubadan is sad because of the death of his daughter. She was the wife of a popular music promoter, Alagbada.

"She was going to her shop when her personal vehicle broke down. She chartered a taxi but on the way, the taxi was involved in an accident around the tollgate in Lagos.

"She later died of injuries she sustained in the accident. The Olubadan has received support from Ibadan elders and council of chiefs. She was buried on Wednesday according to Islamic rites."

The Lagos-Ibadan expressway is notorious for ghastly car crashes that has killed many Nigerians in the past.

Successive governments in the country have failed to fix the road which has practically become a dead trap for Nigerians plying the road.

The appointment of former Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola as the minister of works is President Muhammadu Buhari's attempt to fix the road.

A fortnight after his assumption of office, Julius Berger PLC and Reynolds Construction Company (RCC) started work around Redemption Camp and Arepo areas at the Lagos end of the road.

Julius Berger is handling section one of the project, which stretches from Shagamu Inter-Change to Lagos, while RCC is in charge of section two, stretching from Shagamu Inter-Change to Ojoo, Ibadan.

The project is expected to be completed by July 3, 2017.
