Unbelievable: Ambode’s commissioner says there’s no recession in Lagos state

"As you are aware that Lagos State is a leading economy is Africa, and, my ministry is very key to the economy of Lagos, I can assure that with the mandate of His Excellency, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, we are going to ensure that the state continue to be the pride of Africa and human race." President Muhammadu Buhari's special adviser on foreign affairs and diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa alongside other prominent sons and daughter of Ikorodu were present at the lecture in honour of Adegbola, the former Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state.Lagos state commissioner for Commerce, Industry & Cooperatives, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye has declared that there is no recession in the state.

Speaking with journalists after bagging an award by Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) during the 16th memorial lecture in honour of Professor Anthony Adegbola in, Ikorodu, a suburb of Lagos on Saturday, November 12, the commissioner argued that the state is one of the leading metropolis in Africa.He said: "There is no recession in Lagos state because we have very vibrant economy that is well-managed by our able governor and we his lieutenant are also committed to the relevance of Lagos state in the global economy.

"The state is the fifth largest economy in Africa with the GDP of about 132 billion dollars and the population is over 22 million.
"The state is a deep and vibrant economy and our local governments are keyed into the state programmes and that was the idea behind the recently commissioned 114 roads across the state.

"This is to open up the rural roads and help in the development of commerce and industry in the grassroots.

Prince Ogunleye, who was awarded for his contributions to the development of the division alongside the majority leader of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Sanai Agunbiade and the representative of Ikorodu at the federal House of Representative, Jimi Benson, also said: "One feels a sense of appreciation when you are recognized by your people. This is a recognition by an important body in Ikorodu division.

Lagos commissioner Rotimi Ogunleye, says there is no recession in the state.

"The IDRDG has been around for more than thirty years contributing to human resource development of the division and for them to have recognized you to have done something worthy of acknowledgement means a lot. I accept the award with sense of joy.

"The award will gear me into doing more for Ikorodu and Lagos state in general. My mandate as a commissioner and public official is to impact and add value on the people and the generality of the state and that is what I'm going to build upon.
