What's stopping all those wishes from coming true (@ Ogbso, Webmaster, Mature and Martina who have responded to the thread so far)?
one day soon, I will tell you why I get up every morning or afternoon, and why I am here.

I want Africa to be shown its due respect as the birth of Mankind (the origin of all great and small men and women whose value can't be measured). I want that, because Africa deserves it.

Dqueen I beg to differ, I think the best respect is respect earned not demanded. When what  Martina, Mature and Ogboso wrote are in place the respect will be earned. That is certain.
I want Africans day and night be thinking of what to do for Africa as a continent. Just like you're researching and working in Branding Africa in your blog.
You can't beat growth that will be recorded in State or continent when people think beyond their daily bread and family alone.

Dqueen

You make some interesting points Perfect. However, what's stopping those 'wishes' from coming true for Africa?

Wouldn't we learn a lot if the many guests viewing this thread would also contribute... :-)

Dqueen, it might not easily be answered but what I think that is certain that makes the things listed above eluding the continent or not taken place the way they ought to be is that many Africans both leaders and people think and plan about themselves and families only. The same mind-set is continued even while they're in power.

This is a very helpful analysis Perfect. In my view you are claiming that we tend not to look beyond our families and today's needs. In other words, as Africans we often do not consider others and the future generations' needs. This potentially affects the sustainability of our development. I hope my interpretation of your views is correct, if not please feel free to correct it. Do you think our tendency to worry about just 'us' and 'today' has something to do with our culture, or the idea that we have to 'struggle' to survive as Africans?

Perfect

Your view about my post is correct. Answering your last line, I won't suggest is an Africans culture rather is an ideal most Africans have to struggle to survive as Africa.
For example one time or the other Government officials have been caught transferring billions of dollars outside Africa. I wonder what one individual is doing with such amount of money if not thinking about his/her self alone.
This is to serve as a reality not totality of my reason of the wishes above may continue eluding Africa.

Dqueen

Thank you for the elaboration Perfect.

Perfect

You are welcome Dqueen, we always work and expect the best for our continent.
