Based on available information from the Nigerian High Commission in South Africa, the on-going xenophobic attack in Durban has not resulted in the death of any Nigerian.

The Minister of State II for Foreign Affairs, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro said the Jonathan-led government is monitoring the events in South Africa and will ensure the safety of every Nigerian citizen in the country. He also added that "Our Acting High Commissioner to South Africa is in Durban right now to ensure the safety of Nigerian citizens in the affected areas"
