The gospel of self-enrichment has taken over some of our Christian denominations. The men of the cloth have cunningly crafted a philosophy of prosperity preaching in their ministries– an attitude that makes it even harder for their flock to get to heaven. Jesus himself talked of how easy a camel could go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get to heaven. I consider it deceitful to try and lure people to Christ just to get rich. The book of 1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV) says, "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows"

Televangelists rake in millions by preying on, rather than praying for peoples' needs. They will keep their mobile numbers scrolling across TV screens for viewers to send their offerings though m-pesa (mobile money transfer). Radio preachers, on the other hand, will read a Bible verse once but they'll repeat an m-pesa number thrice. They are awesomely charismatic, overly persuasive and irresistibly charming. These celebrity preachers really workup the congregation with their tailor-made gospel.
