Inter
Gasperini, 53, has been out of work
since being sacked as Genoa boss in
November last year. He had secured
promotion from Serie B in 2007 and
led the side into the Europa League
in 2009.
A club statement read: "It will be
Gian Piero Gasperini to become
Inter's new coach. The official
announcement will be made once all
the final bureaucratic formalities are
completed.
"Once this is done, the date of
Gasperini's unveiling will be given.
Gasperini will sign a two-year
contract."
Inter president Massimo Moratti
added: "I am fully satisfied with the
choice. I wish Gasperini all the
success that has taken Inter to
become Club World champions."
Gasperini will replace Leonardo,
who leaves to take on a role as
sporting director at Paris St Germain
after replacing Rafael Benitez in
December.
Inter have suffered a series of
disappointments in their search for a
new coach, with Marcelo Bielsa and
Sinisa Mihajlovic both turning down
the job and Andre Villas-Boas
heading to Chelsea.
Moratti had even suggested this
week that Leonardo could continue
as coach, although PSG dismissed
the idea shortly afterwards.

Hopefully, he will do well as expected.
