After Tuesday night’s
heartbreak of being dumped out
of the Champions League by Real Madrid, it’s time for Manchester United to pick themselves up of the floor. They need to go charging into this afternoon’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against fierce
rivals Chelsea, who themselves go in to the game off the back of a European defeat. The 1-0 loss to Steaua
Bucharest will entice Chelsea to
come flying out the blocks this
afternoon, but maybe not quite
as much as Manchester United
will be wanting to win, and givne that they have the home
advantage. Coincidentally, the last time these two faced off in the FA
Cup was back in 2009, at Wembley in the final. The Blues went on to win the
game in extra time, with the only goal coming from Didier
Drogba. We’re always in for entertainment when these two
face off, which was proven when
United came out 3-2 winners at
Stamford Bridge earlier in the
season, in an exhilarating game.

Team news

For United, Phil Jones remains out through an ankle injury,
while Paul Scholes is not expected to be available due to
a lingering knee problem. Ryan Giggs, who made his 1000th
senior appearance on Tuesday, will be rested for this
afternoon’s game.
For the Blues, their injury list is
pleasing to look at for them, with Oriol Romeu being the only
expected absence for them.

Line-Ups

Ferguson hasn’t won this competition since 2004, and he has stressed how important it is
for him, and given that there is no midweek fixture for them, he will be fielding a full strength side at Old Trafford, with the likely line-up being: De Gea, Evra, Evans, Ferdinand, Rafael, Carrick, Cleverley, Valencia,
Kagawa, Rooney and Van Persie.

For Chelsea, the FA Cup is the only piece of silverware they
have a good chance of winning, and the possible line-up for them is: Cech, Cahill, Ivanovic, Luiz, Cole, Mikel, Lampard,
Ramires, Mata, Oscar and Ba.
