there, but it looks like the
Africa Cup of Nations will
still be a sold out affair. CAF general secretary Hicham El
Amrani has confirmed that just
over 10 000 tickets for the
decider between Nigeria and
Burkina Faso at Soccer City
remain, allaying fears that fans would stay away with the hosts having been knocked out at the
quarterfinal stage.
PITCH IN TOP CONDITION
Meanwhile, Stadium Management South Africa has also assured fans that the Soccer City pitch will be up to standard. Concerns were raised after the Red Hot Chilli Peppers concert which took place at the venue last Saturday, but CEO Jacques Grobbelaar is quoted in The Sowetan as saying everything will be fine. "We did a pitch review [on Tuesday] and opened the stadium to the members of the
media. We are 100 per cent comfortable the pitch conformS to Fifa regulations. I still believe it's one of the better pitches in the country at the moment."
