Ordega presents AWCON gold medal to gov. Ortom

Super Falcons striker, Francisca Ordega today presented the gold medal she
won at the 2018 edition of the African Women Cup of Nations, AWCON, to her
state governor, Samuel Ortom.
Speaking at the ceremony in Government House, Makurdi, Benue State, Ordega
said she decided to honour the Governor because he has inspired her
performance at the tournament due to his never-die attitude.
The Gboko-born super star said having played for Nigeria and several club
sides across the world with a lot of medals to show for it, she will
continue to make the state proud and expressed the hope that another Benue
girl would fill her gap one day.
The third best African female footballer of the year 2018 promised to
promote female football in the state through her foundation and carry out
several other programmes aimed at reaching out to the less privileged to
provide succour for them.
Receiving the gold medal, Governor Ortom expressed appreciation to Miss
Ordega for always making Benue proud through her exploits in female
football and urged her to sustain the tempo.
Governor Ortom who said the commitment of his government to sports has made
Lobi Stars to win the twenty eighteen Nigeria Professional Football League
and secured a place at the CAF Champions League group stage, promised to
continue investing in football and sports generally.
Francisca Ordega was part of the Super Falcons that won the AWCON for a
record nine times in Ghana late last year.
Ordega came third at the Africa Women Footballer of the Year award after
Asisat Oshoala (second) and South Africa's striker Thembi Kgatlana who won
the agog.
Ordega currently plays for Atlético Madrid female team on loan from
Washington S
