CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls and former BYU sensation Jimmer Fredette have tentatively agreed to a contract after he parted with the Sacramento Kings earlier in the week, a person familiar with the situation said Saturday. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal has not been announced. The sharp-shooting guard was bought out by the Kings on Thursday and cleared waivers on Saturday. Now, hes getting a second chance with the Bulls. Fredette is averaging just 5.9 point and 11.3 minutes in his third season. But the Bulls are hoping "Jimmermania" will take off in Chicago after staying grounded with the Kings -- or that he will at least give them the outside touch they were seeking. Chicago is making a playoff push despite losing former MVP point guard Derrick Rose to another season-ending knee injury and trading away one of its best players in Luol Deng. The Bulls were second in the Central division at 32-26 after beating Dallas on Friday night for their eighth win in nine games. As well as theyre playing, though, they were still last in the NBA in scoring, 28th in overall shooting and tied for 26th in 3-point percentage. Thats where Fredette, who turned 25 on Tuesday, could help. Even though he hasnt developed into a consistent contributor, Fredette is shooting 47.5 per cent from the floor and 49.3 per cent from 3-point range. Fredette dazzled at BYU, leading the nation in scoring at 28.5 points per game and guiding the Cougars to the final 16 in the NCAA tournament as a senior. He was the Associated Press player of the year and the 10th pick in the 2011 draft, but he never lived up to his billing in Sacramento. The constant chatter about moving not to mention the fact that he played for three coaches and two ownership groups probably didnt help, and it was clear his time with the Kings was coming to an end when they decided not to pick up his option for 2014-15 before this season. Chicago could be a good fit for him, given his ability to stretch the floor even if hes not exactly a top-tier defender. Marco Belinelli and Nate Robinson werent, either, but they flourished under Thibodeau last year and parlayed their success into contracts with other teams. D.J. Augustin is excelling this season, averaging 13.3 points since he signed with the Bulls in December after being waived by Toronto. If Fredette can knock down shots and show some improvement on defence, he could find a role with the Bulls at least for the rest of the season. Gary Cahill Jersey . Konradsens 77th-minute header off Morten Gamst Pedersens cross cancelled out Oleg Shatovs opener for Russia in the third minute. Russia could have scored more if not for Norway defender Vegard Forren, who twice cleared off the line with goalkeeper Rune Jarstein beaten. Sergio Busquets Jersey . Mackays position at the Premier League club looked doomed earlier this week after Malaysian owner Vincent Tan sent the manager an email requesting him to stand down or be fired. But Mackay, who insisted he would not resign, has been handed a reprieve with the hierarchy wanting to heal the rift. http://www.thesoccerfanshop.com/Spain/Alvaro-Morata-Jersey/ . "Really, we pitched like garbage," said Morrow. "Starting pitchers were awful the first month, myself included. None of us were pitching like we wanted to, whether it was just bad luck we were going through at that time or just putting pressure on ourselves. Enrique Esqueda Jersey . Tortorella has completed a 15-day suspension for his antics during a 3-2 shootout win against the Calgary Flames on Jan. 18 and returns to a club that has lost 12 times in its last 16 trips to the ice. Nicolas Lombaerts Belgium Jersey . The second-ranked Serb has been practicing hard as he prepares for this weeks Italian Open and the French Open, which starts in two weeks. "Right now I feel much more confident at the state of my wrist and I know that Im ready much more to play a match than I was one week ago," Djokovic said Sunday after attracting thousands of spectators to a practice session with Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka on the Foro Italicos spectacular Pietrangeli court, which is lined with neo-classical statues.ANAHEIM, Calif. - A day after the Los Angeles Angels partied into the wee hours to celebrate their AL West title, a lineup composed of backups, Triple-A regulars, and a spot starter took on Felix Hernandez and the desperate Seattle Mariners. And for eight innings, the Angels junior varsity looked ready to pull out an unlikely win. Instead, Logan Morrison hit a three-run homer with two outs in the ninth, and Seattle boosted its AL wild-card hopes with a 3-1 victory Thursday night. With late night celebrations still ringing in their ears, several Angels got Thursday off, including Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, Howie Kendrick, Kole Calhoun and Erick Aybar. Manager Mike Scioscia also scratched ace Jered Weaver and handed the ball to Wade LeBlanc, who matched zeros with Hernandez into the sixth inning. "I think it just sets some things up for what we want to do in our rotation moving forward this next week, and then getting ready for the first playoff series," Scioscia said. "It gives us the best shot to hopefully win the best record. It was something we felt strongly about doing, and Wade came through." LeBlanc pitched three-hit ball in his second start for the major league-leading Angels, who are still playing for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Their lead over Baltimore for the majors best record is down to 2 1-2 games. The Angels pulled Weaver about six hours before game time, pushing his next start back to Saturday to put him in line to start the AL division series opener on Oct. 2. LeBlanc significantly improved on his only previous start for the Angels, a 7-1 loss to Miami on Aug. 25. LeBlanc cleared waivers and returned for the Angels post-season push, making five solid relief appearances before striking out three Mariners and walking none. "Thats the life of a swingman, or a long reliever, or a spot starter," LeBlanc said. "Ive been fortunate to do that in the ppast, so it wasnt anything new.dddddddddddd Anytime they want to give me the ball, Im ready for it." Hernandez struck out 11 during seven innings of three-hit ball as the Mariners pulled within one game of the slumping Oakland Athletics for the second AL wild-card spot. Seattle still had to sweat out its third win in nine games, ending a 17-inning scoreless stretch with Morrisons ninth homer. "Words cant describe that feeling," Morrison said. "I just know were in a race, and we need every hit we can get. We need every run we can get. We need every win we can get. Weve had some offensive struggles lately, but weve got a bunch of guys that dont know how to quit." After Kendrys Morales singled and pinch-runner James Jones advanced on a bad pickoff throw by Kevin Jepsen (0-2), Morrison deposited a belt-high changeup into the left-field stands. "We had to lure them into a false sense of security," Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon said with a grin. "Everybody thinks thats easy (to face a lineup of unknowns)," McClendon added. "Thats scary. Its hard to prepare. You read scouting reports, but you havent had firsthand competition against them, so that makes it tough." Tom Wilhelmsen (3-2) escaped a bases-loaded jam of his own making in the eighth. Fernando Rodney allowed Hank Congers homer in the ninth before finishing his 46th save, passing Kazuhiro Sasaki for the most in a single season in club history. TRAINERS ROOM Angels: Cleanup hitter Josh Hamilton has a new pain in his upper body, and he sat out for the 13th time in 14 games. Scioscia hopes the injury is minor. UP NEXT Mariners: Taijuan Walker (1-2, 2.96) travelled early to Houston to prepare for the opener of a key series against Brad Peacock and the Astros. Angels: Hector Santiago (5-8, 3.55) opens Los Angeles final home series against the Texas Rangers and Lisalverto Bonilla.
