Colorado Springs, CO  - Toronto Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan has made the cut of 16 finalists selected for the next round of the USA Mens National Team training. USA Basketball trimmed its roster for the upcoming FIBA World Cup, cutting John Wall, Bradley Beal and Paul Millsap on Tuesday. A total of 16 players are still competing for 12 spots on the team that will play in Spain later this summer. The remaining finalists including DeRozan are DeMarcus Cousins, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, Kevin Durant, Kenneth Faried, James Harden, Gordon Hayward, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Korver, Damian Lillard, Chandler Parsons, Derrick Rose, Klay Thompson and Mason Plumlee. "All 16 guys have a chance to make to the team, which usually does not happen in a training camp, and it shows that all of the guys thus far have done an excellent job," said Team USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski in a statement Tuesday. "Then its just a matter of finding what chemistry that we can develop with the entire group and I dont think well know that until we play some exhibition games. The 16 guys give us a chance to look at a way of playing in a number of different ways and we just have to figure out what those ways are and then the 12 who will fit best." Plumlee was an addition to the roster, which lost Paul George to a broken leg during Saturdays scrimmage at the conclusion of the teams training camp in Las Vegas. "The ending to our Las Vegas training camp with the injury to Paul George was very emotional for everyone involved in USA Basketball," said managing director Jerry Colangelo in a statement Tuesday. "I very much appreciate the outpouring of support Paul and USA Basketball has received the past couple of days from the basketball world." There had been speculation that some of the team members might pull out in the wake of Georges gruesome injury. The Pacers star landed awkwardly against the stanchion behind the basket, snapping his tibia and fibula. He underwent surgery Saturday night and could be sidelined for the entire 2014-15 season. "Past Olympic coaches and some of our past Olympic and world championship players have reached out offering their continued support and thats very important," Colangelo added. "Pauls injury was an extremely unfortunate occurrence; it was truly a freak accident. Were all very pleased that his recovery is going well." Wall and Millsap were late replacements after Kevin Love and Blake Griffin withdrew from consideration. "Weve said all along that we would be proud to have any of the players who were in Las Vegas represent USA Basketball and the United States," Colangelo stated. "This phase of the selection process was extremely difficult and very thorough, and its worth again mentioning that we are looking to select the best team, which are not necessarily the best players. Were pleased with where we are at this point of our training and were looking forward to getting back on the court and continuing our preparations to represent the United States at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup." Practice will begin Aug. 14 in Chicago. A pair of exhibition games are slated for Madison Square Garden in New York on Aug. 20 and Aug. 22. The FIBA World Cup, previously known as the World Championship, will be held Aug. 30-Sept. 14. nike Air Max 90 Baratas Online . PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Chris Archer stayed at the top of his game long enough for the Tampa Bay Rays to bounce back from one of their worst losses of the season. Archer pitched seven strong innings, David DeJesus scored twice and the Rays beat the Angels 4-1 Wednesday night, ending Los Angeles four-game winning streak. The rookie right-hander was given the assignment of breaking the Rays three-game losing skid one night after they had squandered a four-run lead and fell 6-5, dropping 2 1/2 games behind the first-place Boston Red Sox in the AL East. "Honestly, the pressures always the same whether weve won three in a row or lost three in a row," Archer said. "Im still trying to go out there and execute pitches regardless of previous games." Archer (8-5) allowed one run and five hits while striking out five. For the fifth time in his last 10 starts, he did not walk a batter. "Hes got such a strong mental game," Rays manager Joe Maddon noted. "This guy really understands routine and process. I saw a close-up on TV where he was almost talking himself, and I know he was telling himself the right things regarding how to slow down and how to focus ... Thats been the impressive part. I mean zero walks -- come on!" In his five starts without a walk, Archer is 4-0 with an 0.47 earned run average. He has emerged in the late summer as the Rays steadiest starter. "I think Im feeling the same thing everybody feels at this time of the season," he said. "Im in good shape, my stuffs still crisp, my velocity is still there, Im executing pitches. I think its a mental hurdle rather than physical now for everybody," he said. Archer breezed through the first six innings, scattering three singles and facing 20 batters, only two over the minimum. "Hes got good stuff. Hes got a nice, easy delivery," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "His fastball is really live, and a terrific slider. He pitched a strong game for those guys." Fernando Rodney pitched the ninth, striking out two for his 31st save.dddddddddddd Garrett Richards (4-6) gave up four runs on seven hits and three walks in 3 1-3 innings, the second-shortest of his career. "I just didnt have it from the beginning," Richards said. "Arm felt good. Body felt good. I just wasnt there tonight." DeJesus, playing his fifth game since the Rays got him in a trade with Washington, had two of the Rays eight hits and drove in his first run. Ben Zobrist also had two hits and an RBI. DeJesus led off the Tampa Bay first with a double and scored on Matt Joyces sacrifice fly. In the fourth, DeJesus hit an RBI single off Richards leg. The Rays scored three times in the decisive inning, and an error on shortstop Erick Aybar put the Rays up 4-0. "We got one of those snowball innings that we need to have more of," said DeJesus, who is 6 for 11 in three games as a leadoff hitter with Tampa Bay. "We gave away that game yesterday. Its great to bounce back and get Rodney back in there, get him a nice save and have a clean game." Mike Trout and Josh Hamilton opened the Angels seventh with singles. Kole Calhoun hit a sacrifice fly. Trout had his 51st multihit game of the season and raised his batting average against right-handed pitchers to .332. He is hitting .333 against lefties. Hamiltons single in the seventh extended his road hitting streak to a career-high 15 games. NOTES: Angels 3B Chris Nelson left the game in the seventh inning with a strained right hamstring. The Angels said he will go on the disabled list Thursday. ... The Rays optioned LHP Jeff Beliveau to Double-A Montgomery after the game. ... RHP Jake Odorizzi, called up from Triple-A Durham late Tuesday, will pitch Thursdays series finale for the Rays. It will be Odorizzis fourth start of the season and first since June 18. . . . Maddon said there is "a strong possibility" the Rays will call up Delmon Young on Sept. 1. The veteran outfielder was signed to a minor league contract on Aug. 22. cheap nfl Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap Jerseys cheap nfl Jerseys wholesale Jerseys ' ' '
