We have all heard many times DVI, but what really means and what it does? What is the main function of this little white port video card? How can it benefit you and your personal computer? Do you know that DVI is suitable for your needs?

Digital video interface is created by Digital Display Working Group to resolve the housing problem and analog digital interfaces by using only one connector. It was developed by the failure of standardization in the digital interface.

Three types of standards can be seen in the DVI cable. It is very important to know how each type looks like before you buy to upgrade your DVI. So it is very important to know how the DVI cable and that will be most beneficial to you.

However, DVI cables are still under development. Therefore there is no specific standard for DVI cable. Ideally, home theater DVI cable is capable of creating "digital to digital" connection between the data or video sources and home theater projectors.

The standard rule is that DVI cable should have a length of 5 m for smooth operation. It is very typical of deciding a DVI cable the first time.

There are two types of DVI connectors, and each has its own characteristics. The trademark flat pins if the cable is analog or digital. A flat pin with four surrounding pins that denotes or DVI-A or DVI-1. A flat pin alone denotes DVI-D. The sets of pins depends on whether the cable is single link or dual link or analog.

To choose a perfect video digital interface cable you should remember these tips:

1.Check DVI female connectors to make sure what kind of signals are supported.
2.One or connections that both must be DVI-D, if you are choosing a DVI-D cable.
3. one or both connections must be DVI-A if you are choosing a DVI cable.
4.If one connection is DVI and one VGA, DVI and analog if compatible, then you should buy a DVI / VGA or DVI to VGA cable.
5.When both connections are DVI-1, is recommended to use any DVI cable, but better if you use a DVI cable.
6. If a connection is digital and the other is analog, then there is no possibility of connection between them.
