If you speak with anyone who uses email, spam is something that often exist in the mind. How often is that you open the inbox for a verification email from your mother, and ends with emails with subjective titles on animals, and debris.

There are ways to fight spam, and one of the most popular is using a spam filtering service. There are all different types of spam, and, surprisingly, not all of them involve e-mail. Most spam is advertising or promoting a product, however this is not true in some cases.

Most common types of spam are spam, spam spam and search engine link.

Spam is the simple fact of sending massive amounts of "junk mail" to all the world to promote a product. Often times spam has been exploited by more "undergorund industries such as the adult industry, but it would be unfair to say that other industries have not used it too.

Link spam is a form of spam or spamdexing that recently became public more often when targeting the most popular weblogs. Weblogs is one of the biggest problems, however spam link also affects the guest books and online discussion forums. The purpose behind these different places spam is to show links to a page or more products, which helps both the user and exposure in the search engines.

The search engine spam is closely related to the "link spam" above, since it is the process of creating a countless number of pages, that populate the search engines. Often these pages will be full of garbage text and have no real value on there own. When a user visits them, or be redirected to a completely different page, often in another domain, or prominently display ads.

Everyone can have their part in eliminating spam. The easiest way for a general user to discourage spam, not to use it. The spammers just spam, since it must be effective, otherwise they will find something better to do with their time. It is also advisable to have multiple levels of spam protection staff, which often included with the anti-virus software. Third-party solutions such as Hotmail, have very good spam detection, but often in spam sometimes leak, and if you can help by informing hotmail occurrence, so you can better help protect next time.
